Acceptable Use Policy

What you may not use Talking Jellyfish for, and what we can and cannot do about it.

1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy describes prohibited uses of Talking Jellyfish. It forms part of our Terms of Use, and if the two ever conflict, the Terms of Use govern.

We will update this policy as the technology and its risks change.

2. How this policy is enforced — and how it is not

Talking Jellyfish runs entirely on your iPhone. Your conversations, memories, contacts, photos, and voice recordings never leave your device and are never sent to us.

That has a consequence we would rather state plainly than leave you to discover: we cannot see how you use the app, and we cannot enforce this policy by watching you. We do not monitor conversations, we do not review content, we have no moderation team, and we cannot suspend or terminate an individual user's access to software running on their own device.

What does exist is built into the app itself: safeguards that run locally, described on our Safety page. Beyond that, this policy sets out the terms on which the app is licensed to you. Using it in the ways listed below is a breach of those terms.

4. Reporting a concern

Because we cannot observe use of the app, reports from people are the only signal we get. If you believe the app has behaved in a way this policy prohibits, please tell us at support@talkingjellyfish.com. Please do not include anyone's personal information in your report.
